1. The Asitz: Lightness Meets Panorama
Looking for a relaxed hike with a cinematic natural backdrop? Then the Asitz is the perfect choice. The gondola takes you comfortably from the valley station in Leogang to the top. From there, the trail leads across the Kleiner Asitz to the Großer Asitz (1,914 m). Along the way, the TONspur Islands invite you to pause and listen – music surrounded by nature. Your path continues to the Sonnkogel Nature Cinema – a place to linger, observe and enjoy. On the way back, take the Leos Play Trail – especially fun for families.
Hiking time: approx. 2 hours
2. Schönfeldspitze: Summit Art in the Stone Sea
If you bring surefootedness and a head for heights, the Schönfeldspitze (2,653 m) promises a real highlight. The hike starts at the Sandten car park and leads via the Riemannhaus along a ridge to the summit. At the top awaits one of the most extraordinary summit crosses: a wooden Pietà – raw, expressive, full of symbolism. A place that offers more than just a view – it offers perspective.
Hiking time: approx. 5 hours
3. Persailhorn: A Climbing Moment with Depth
Two via ferratas lead from the Peter-Wiechenthaler hut to the Persailhorn (2,347 m). Courage and focus are needed – but your reward is a breathtaking panoramic view. The wooden summit cross depicts the Virgin Mary – a quiet, artistic symbol of spirituality that blends naturally into the rugged surroundings of the Steinernes Meer. A destination for those who value the journey as much as the peak itself.
Hiking time: approx. 4 hours
4. Hochzint: The Quiet Star of the Leoganger Steinberge
If you seek solitude in the mountains, you’ll fall in love with the Hochzint (2,246 m). The trail starts at the Ullachtal car park and leads via the Passauer Hut to the summit. Between Hochzint and Birnhorn lies the legendary Melkerloch – a rock window offering views as far as the Großglockner and Watzmann. If you still have energy, continue on to the Birnhorn (2,634 m) – the highest peak in the Leoganger Steinberge.
Hiking time: approx. 3.5 hours
Conclusion: Less Selfies. More Soul.
These four peaks tell stories – of silence, clarity, and strength. They represent everything that makes Saalfelden Leogang so special: contrasting landscapes, genuine quality, and authentic experiences. Whether you're hiking as a family or taking a mindful break just for yourself – this is not about staged tourism, but about honest moments for body, mind, and soul.
