7 ideas for your winter holiday in Saalfelden Leogang

Here, we present you seven winter activities that you should definitely not miss, when you plan your winter holiday in Saalfelden Leogang. Our region offers a lot of thrilling activities besides skiing and cross-country skiing. 

1. Being the first one on the slopes 

The Asitzbahn cable car and the Steinbergbahn cable car in Leogang open at 8.00 am in winter and bring you to the top of the Asitz mountain from where you can conquer the skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. Of course, the slopes are perfectly groomed at this time and ready for you. Being an early bird is really worth it. Imagine being alone on the slopes and leave your traces in the untouched snow. 

2. Visit a Krampus Rummel 

To visit a Krampus Rummel should definitely be on your to-do list. This is part of the tradition in Saalfelden Leogang. Every year around the 6th of December you can already hear the bells ringing and you see the Krampusse all over our region. They are the companions of the St. Nikolaus. There are organized runs, where the Krampusse show their scary masks and their furry suits and visitors can enjoy a cup of tee with rum on the christmas markets.

"3 Days Jazz" takes place in January in the Nexus in Saalfelden, in the Mining and Gothic Museum in Leogang as well as at the mountain restaurant Stöcklalm at the Asitz mountain. At these concerts you can enjoy good music and you definitely shouldn't miss them!

6. Living the dream of flying 

Take of your skis and fly with the Flying Fox XXL. Even in winter it is an absolute highlight. With a length of 1,600 metres, a height of up to 143 metres and potential top speeds of up to 130 km/h, the Flying Fox XXL is one of the fastest and longest steel rope slides in the world. During your flight you can enjoy a panoramic view of the mountains and your adrenaline level will definitely rise. Furthermore, seeing things from above, lets everything appear smaller.
