Ye Olde 2: At the End of Time
USA
Jacob Garchik - trombone
Brandon Seabrook - guitar
Mary Halvorson - guitar
Jonathan Goldberger- guitar, baritone guitar
Vinnie Sperrazza - drums
Ten years after the album “Ye Olde”, Jacob Garchik—also known for his collaborations with Lee Konitz, the Mingus Big Band, the Kronos Quartet, or Gogol Bordello—followed up last year with “Ye Olde 2: At the End of Time”. Shortly before his 50th birthday, the San Francisco-born, New York-based trombonist presents his pleasantly apocalyptic ensemble-music—complex, intense, and agitated, as befits music for the end of time—live at the Saalfelden Jazz Festival. The fact that the high-caliber original lineup from the first album will be performing—featuring all three of its virtuoso guitarists: Mary Halvorson, Brandon Seabrook, and Jonathan Goldberger—speaks volumes not only about the enterprising bandleader but, above all, about his compositions. "One Can Only Go Up", as the opening track is aptly titled.
