TONspur concert III - Hawaiian Project
The Hawaiian Project offers a unique concert experience filled with rhythm, culture and island spirit. Born and raised on Maui, musician Anthony Pfluke – one of the most outstanding ukulele players of his generation – performs alongside musician and charismatic hula dancer Ethan Villanueva and his sister Katie Villanueva, bringing authentic Hawaiian culture to Europe.
Deeply rooted in Hawaiian musical tradition, Anthony Pfluke discovered his passion for music at a young age and developed his distinctive style through the ukulele. His songs blend traditional Hawaiian sounds with contemporary influences and elements of reggae. In addition to the ukulele, he also plays the traditional slack-key guitar, creating a rich and unmistakable sound.
Ethan and Katie Villanueva, both raised on Maui, complement the performance with traditional hula. While Ethan combines music and dance on stage, Katie expresses the stories of Hawaii through graceful and powerful movements. Together, they share stories of nature, mythology and the deep connection between people and their land.
Hawaiian music and hula are closely intertwined, preserving history, culture and spirituality over generations. Every movement and every note tells a story, making this performance both authentic and deeply moving.
An evening full of island atmosphere, music and dance – bringing the spirit of Hawaii to the Asitz.
