Pianist-composer Sylvie Courvoisier, a native of Switzerland, has earned just renown for balancing two distinct worlds: the deep, richly detailed chamber music of her European roots and the grooving, hook- laden sounds of the downtown jazz scene in New York City, her home for more than two decades.
Canadian pianist-composer Kris Davis was voted pianist of the year in the 2020 Downbeat Critics Poll. The New York Times says: “One method for deciding where to hear jazz on a given night has been to track down the pianist Kris Davis.” These two unique and highly sought after pianists will play together, for the first time, on Saalfelden's Mainstage.
