Summer solstice fest

When the chain of mystical lights of small bonfires illuminate the mountain peaks after dark, it is the shortest night of the year, Midsummers night - a traditional custom of the 14th century. The astronomical beginning of summer illuminates the mountains of Pinzgau each year. The popular belief is that the midsummer night fires will fend off the evil demons which are responsible for disease, injuries to cattle, damage from hailstones and for children who are sick. Countless bonfires in the Leogang Steinberge and the Steinernen Meer will be lit on the 18th June to provide a mystical glow to the night.

06.00 pm Start of the event
07.30 pm Start concert of the Eisenbahner Stadtkapelle
10.00 pm Burning of the fire on the Mountains
