Kosmonauci "Brudna - Bielizna“
Poland
Miłosz Pieczonka - saxophone
Bartłomiej Lucjan - bass
Tymon Kosma - vibraphone
Jan Pieniążek - drums
“The Power of Friendship”, one of the titles on the second album by this boy band with jazz roots, really says it all. The four “Kosmonauci” from Bielsko-Biała, who nowadays can primarily be found shuttling between Warsaw and Berlin, discover their sound in friendship and find their groove in the shared threads of their backgrounds and tastes. The bassist stoically lays down his lines, the drummer fires things up with polyrhythms like a lovechild of Yussef Dayes and Makaya McCraven, the saxophonist loves Johnny Hodges and Ornette Coleman in equal measure, and the vibraphonist, too, has done his homework—from Bobby Hutcherson to Roy Ayers—transforming their insights into his own brand of melodic magic. Kosmonautically cool.
