"Trails of Alpine Sports Legends" is a section of the Tour de Champions in Austria's largest biking region, Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn.
On this route in Saalfelden Leogang, 71.9 km and a hefty 2,230 meters of elevation gain await you. The tour couldn’t be more varied and is perfect for explorers. Starting from Leogang, the route begins with a leisurely ride to Saalfelden, where you’ll be greeted by the imposing Steinernes Meer mountain range. At Ritzensee, an information board tells you about the Nordic Park Saalfelden, which offers the chance to cross-country ski on a World Championship-level trail in the winter. The route continues to Maria Alm, where the first of two major climbs awaits. Meter by meter, you’ll ascend to the Hundstein, which greets you with an impressive panorama. The Hundstoa is the venue for the traditional Hundstoa wrestling festival in the Salzburg Alps. The information board on site provides more details about this spectacle. The route then continues via Thumersbach down to Lake Zell, an ideal spot for a short break. Via Maishofen, you’ll reach the starting point of the second, shorter climb, which leads up to the Biberg. You’ll be rewarded with a view of the Saalfelden Basin before rolling back to the starting point in Leogang.
