Challenging gravel tour from Saalfelden via Leogang to Saalbach, then via Maishofen back to Saalfelden
The tour starts in Saalfelden and initially heads toward Leogang, offering a great view of the distinctive Leoganger Steinberge. Passing by the Epic Bike Park Leogang and the Asitz massif, you roll comfortably over to the Tyrolean side to Hochfilzen. There, on a quiet side street, the ascent begins, soon turning into a beautiful gravel stretch – a challenging but scenically impressive route up to the Spielberghaus, which marks the transition into the Glemmtal. A stop with a view is definitely worth it.
From the Spielberghaus, there is a brisk descent on top-grade gravel down to Saalbach. Then you ride leisurely along the Saalach river through Viehhofen and out toward Maishofen. A short detour to Zeller See is worth considering, before returning to Saalfelden on flat, pleasant asphalt and gravel roads.
