The demanding ascent of the Birnhorn, the highest peak of the Leoganger Steinberge, requires a very early start due to its length and alpine character. Below the Kuchlnieder, a secured via ferrata section must be negotiated. The Passauer Hut offers an ideal stop and overnight accommodation, allowing the tour to be comfortably split over two days. Suitable only for experienced mountaineers with sure-footedness and a head for heights.
