From Saalfelden to the beautiful Hintersee lake in Germany
From Saalfelden railway station, you first follow the Tauern Cycle Path towards Weißbach and Lofer at a leisurely pace. Then the real gravel adventure begins: the route leads to one of the most beautiful gravel sections ever – past Donnersbach and Innersbach to Aschau above the impressive Aschauer Klamm gorge. Tunnels, rock cuts and endless gravel paths characterise this section.
Cross the border to Unterjettenberg and follow the German Alpine Road to picturesque Hintersee. After a short break, the challenging climb to Hirschbichel awaits – the highest point of the tour with a tavern and border views. The return journey is a rapid descent on asphalt to Weißbach and a leisurely ride back to Saalfelden via the Tauern Cycle Path.
