Saalfelden Leogang is located in the Pinzgau region of Salzburg, about 70 kilometres southwest of the city of Salzburg. The region is bordered by the Steinernes Meer plateau to the north, the Leoganger Steinberge mountain range to the west, the Hochkönig massif to the east and the Kitzbühel Alps to the south.

By car, the route from Munich follows the A8 motorway towards Salzburg, taking the Siegsdorf – Lofer – Saalfelden exit.
