Sledging at Biberg

Sledging and Biberg mountain go together like tasty “Kasnocken” and the Pinzgau region. If you’re up for a bit of both, we recommend a visit to Saalfelden Leogang!

Before starting your sledging adventure at Biberg, you first have to get up to the starting point of the toboggan run. You can either hike through the snow-covered landscape to get there or use the shuttle service to Berggasthof Huggenberg. The toboggan run starts at Bockareit Stubn valley station. If you’re in the mood for some additional exercise, you can start hiking from there instead of from the mountain restaurant.

The sledging is closed!

Off you go! Start your sledging adventure

The first great spot for a break is Berggasthof Huggenberg. Fuel up with a cup of tea, coffee or hot cocoa for the fun ahead or rent a sledge from the mountain restaurant. From there, your sledging adventure continues on foot.

Just a few more steps:  the last metres up to Biberg

In less than an hour, you will reach Berggasthof Biberg at 1,400 metres above sea level. The mountain restaurant offers breathtaking views across the Saalfelden basin, the Leogang mountains, the Steinernes Meer and Hochkönig mountains and on towards Kitzsteinhorn and the High Tauern. If you can’t get enough off the marvellous view, simply take a seat at the restaurant’s sun terrace.

Foodie tip: Don’t miss the legendary “Bibergreindl” pan dish with spareribs, roast pork, sauerkraut and dumplings! There’s no better way to fuel up for the sledging fun ahead!

The natural toboggan run covers a total distance of six kilometres. The many bends and turns make for an action-fuelled ride that will reward you for every step of your earlier hike.

Night sledging at Biberg

A highlight not just for night owls: night sledging under starry skies at Biberg mountain! For a relaxed start, hop on the shuttle that takes guests up to Berggasthof Huggenberg until 22:00. From there, you can enjoy a serene night-time hike to the starting point of the toboggan run. The floodlit natural toboggan run will take you back down to the valley all safe and sound.

Safe sledging fun

To be perfectly prepared for your sledging adventure, bring the following:

  • warm and weatherproof clothing
  • solid footwear with non-slip soles
  • ski goggles, gloves and a helmet for maximum safety
  • Tip for night sledging: Bring your headlamp!

Please note:

  • Plastic sleds or similar sports equipment are not suitable for sledging.
  • Ski boots are prohibited on the toboggan run.
