Zbigniew Chojnacki - modular accordion
The only constant element in the music of Polish accordionist Zbigniew is his instrument. What the 34-year-old virtuoso does with it is a matter of mood, and different every single time. Influenced by British punk rock, Berlin techno, the classical music of his homeland, American jazz, and every conceivable other musical genre from around the world, he brings his modular reed instrument to life using "techniques borrowed from piano works." Yet inspiration can also be found in "an old washing machine, a blade of grass, the sound of a bus engine, or even a chair in the middle of a stage." A self-described "hunter of interesting people," he has performed with bassist Joëlle Léandre, vocalist Anna Gadt, vibraphonist Yuhan Su, and drummer Ramon Prats among others. Before releasing his third solo album in early 2027, Zbigniew makes his debut appearance in Saalfelden this year.
