The dialogue between humans and nature is at the heart of Bernd Koller’s artistic work. The title “Baumdenken” (“Tree Thinking”) takes its name from a watercolour of the same title from 2003. Several years later, in 2012, during a study stay in Jingdezhen, China, he created his first ink drawings of tree fungi and ceramics.
For a long time – much like tree fungi growing from a mycelium – the ideas needed time to become visible.
Drawings, prints and ceramic objects interact with one another, forming different layers of an idea that moves from the two-dimensional surface into space and back again.
