"Music may not be able to save the world, but it can save your soul” (author unknown)
Klemens Lendl and David Müller began to make music together as teenagers towards the end of the 1980’s. Their first encounter with old Viennese songs was in the mid 1990’s, but it wasn’t until they came into contact with the Viennese poet Peter Ahorner at the turn of the century that they discovered their musical home. They brought out their first CD in 2003 with their own songs, and since then Die Strottern have produced another 8 albums, exploring the outlying areas of Viennese music. They often collaborate with musicians from other genres from jazz through to early music in the search for new means of expression for Viennese song that is appropriate for the present day. This has resulted in collaborative programmes with the Viennese jazz workshop, Ensemble Mikado, Franui, Hannes Löschel, Christoph Bochdansky, Matthias Schorn, Willi Resetarits, Velvet Elevator, Ramsch & Rosen, Barbara Romen & Gunter Schneider, Zur Wachauerin, Maja Osojnik, Lukas Kranzelbinder and Matthias Loibner.
Back in 2015 Die Strottern & Blech appeared for the first time in their “deluxe lineup” (with Martin Eberle on trumpet / Flügelhorn and Martin Ptak on trombone/harmonium) on the TONspur stage. And it is in this formation that they are returning to the Asitz in our anniversary year.
