Theater: KÖNIG LEAR in GERMAN LANGUAGE
King Lear wants to abdicate and divide his kingdom among his three daughters. But first, he wants to know how much they love him...
The story of the aging patriarch King Lear reads like an analysis of contemporary political conditions – as if nothing has changed in over 400 years. But it’s not only about the struggle for power and influence: it’s also about aging, deep-rooted family wounds, and ultimately about the hope that rests on a new generation.
In a world falling apart, existential questions arise: What remains when all certainties collapse? How do we survive pain, uprooting, and loss?
Syrian actor Salim Chreiki plays King Lear in Arabic.
Thanks to the clear direction and surtitles, the story is accessible to everyone. "Lear" is surrounded by a distinguished ensemble. Live music is performed by Gernot Haslauer.
Cast: Salim Chreiki, Jurij Diez, Daniela Enzi, Gerard Es, Reinhold Gerl, Kristin Henkel, Katharina Lehner, Raphael Steiner, Marena Weller
