They've played in various formations, in particular in pianist Angelica Sanchez's band and in Malaby's Apparitions. “Fortunately, everyone I'm playing with now is one of my closest friends,” Rainey said in 2004 in All About Jazz. The intimacy of this drum/sax duo is a perfect example of how much personal relationships influence the way people make music.
