Armed with a guitar and his crooked mouth, ZWANZGA tears open a rift between the old and the new world. Somewhere between silky-smooth sounds and an aggressive edge, Austropop meets Velvet Underground. Together with Edwin Steinitz on bass and Didi Neidhart on minimal drums, they create rumbling, dark yet catchy songs. The anti-anthem “Es is ma wuascht” (“I don’t give a damn”) shows how ZWANZGA turns the simple into something artistic – and melancholy into a pretty laid-back abyss.
