One week to go: 3 Days of Jazz 2024

Next week the time has finally come! From 26-28 January 2024, the 3 Days of Jazz Festival in Saalfelden Leogang will take place for the 7th time.

For the first time, a concert will also be held in the Saalfelden parish church as part of the winter festival.  A further five concerts will be held at the Kunsthaus Nexus Saalfelden, two at the Mining and Gothic Museum Leogang and one at the Stöcklalm on the Asitz mountain.

The 3 Days of Jazz Festival will kick off on Friday in the Saalfelden parish church, which will be hosting the event for the first time, creating a very special atmosphere. Maria Faust, a saxophonist and composer from Estonia, will perform an expressive, melancholic and at the same time modern solo called "MOnuMENT".  In addition to the saxophone, electronic pedals and effects will also be used. Afterwards, the Janick Martin Trio from France will perform "Sông Song" at the Kunsthaus Nexus. The 18-piece big band led by Monika Roscher - a prog big band between maths jazz, avant-pop and electronica - will conclude Friday evening. You will hear a wild reinterpretation of the classical big band in musical border areas.

On Saturday, Austrian pianist Simon Raab will open the second day of the festival at Kunsthaus Nexus with his solo project "those things falling". This will be followed by the American formation "Mary Halvorson Amaryllis Sextet", known from numerous lists of the best, among others. Vincent Peirani from France, Federico Casagrande from Italy and Ziv Ravitz from Israel will then provide a special stage experience with their project "Jokers": whether as soloists, rhythmists or accentuators, the idea behind this line-up is the spontaneous interplay of musical roles.

The 3 Days of Jazz Festival will conclude on Sunday in the historic Mining and Gothic Museum Leogang. The tickets therefore are already sold out. The Austrian duo, formed by Flora Geißelbrecht and Paul Schuberth, enters into a liaison with new music, improvisation, political song and double conférence. Chamber music and compact sounds from the Austrian-Czech trio Vedovelli/Flagar/Eberle round off another 3 Days of Jazz Festival edition.

On Saturday, a concert will take place in the middle of the ski area „Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn“ against a magnificent backdrop - and it's even free. The local four-piece acoustic rock cover band ACÖUSTIC FRÖNT will create a great atmosphere at the Stöcklalm on the Asitz mountain and acoustically reinterpret well-known rock hits by AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Jimi Hendrix and many more.

To get you in the mood for the festival weekend, the Kunsthaus Nexus Saalfelden will be showing the documentary film in german language " Jazz Saalfelden 2023 – Vor und hinter den Bühnen“ (means: Jazz Saalfelden 2023 - in front of and behind the stages) on Thursday, 25 January 2024, free of charge. A film produced by Hans Fuchs from Pinzgau in cooperation with Kristina Drexel and Robert Lorenz - HIRE-PARC Ateliers, for the online format "SO-Magazin". This documentary about the Jazzfestival Saalfelden not only focuses on the variety of concerts and the special venues, it also takes a look behind the scenes of the festival and employees tell exciting and interesting stories.
