From 21 June until mid-October, an exhibition by former internationally successful snowboarder and passionate photographer Stefan Gimpl invites visitors to discover the world through his lens. The exhibition got off to a remarkable start with its official opening last Sunday: nearly 100 guests attended the vernissage – more than ever before.
What began as a creative way to document his travels soon developed into a true passion for Leogang native Stefan Gimpl. On his journeys around the globe, he captures extraordinary moments, breathtaking landscapes, and unique atmospheres through photography. The result is an exceptional collection of striking nature and landscape images that can now be experienced along the Art Hiking Trail.
The exhibition starts just below the top station of the Asitzbahn at an altitude of 1,760 metres. Easily accessible via the Asitzbahn or Steinbergbahn gondolas, the scenic forest trail leads past the “Silent Water at Asitz” area and continues to the Sinne Park near the middle station of the Asitzbahn. Along the route, Stefan Gimpl’s large-format photographs are displayed every 30 to 40 metres, inviting visitors to pause, reflect, and admire.
Combining spectacular alpine scenery, a leisurely hike, and inspiring photographic art, the Art Hiking Trail offers a unique experience for nature lovers, art enthusiasts, and families alike. The exhibition provides an opportunity to discover the beauty of diverse regions around the world while being surrounded by the stunning mountain landscape of Leogang.
"Every photograph tells its own story. The Art Hiking Trail offers visitors the opportunity to experience these stories in the heart of nature and, for a moment, immerse themselves in distant and familiar landscapes as well as extraordinary moments." - Martina Riedlsperger, Chairwoman of the FREIRAUM Cultural Association
The Art Hiking Trail was officially opened to the public during a festive vernissage on Sunday, 21 June 2026, and is now accessible to visitors throughout the summer season.
