Just after the peaceful Christmas season, the 3 Days of Jazz Festival Saalfelden will kick off the new jazz year in SalzburgerLand from January 23 to 25, 2026. This intimate winter festival is known as the smaller but no less sophisticated sister of the internationally renowned Jazzfestival Saalfelden, offering a program that impresses with artistic diversity, musical depth, and extraordinary venues. Over three days, renowned musicians and exciting newcomers come together – a celebration for everyone who loves improvisation, experimentation, and musical freedom.
A Weekend of Unique Sounds
One of the highlights is the duo of French cellist Vincent Courtois and Swiss pianist Colin Vallon. 'Simple Fall' is a journey through melancholy and beauty, where classical rigor and improvised freedom gently intertwine. Intimate and poetic, they create a delicate musical tapestry that combines classical elegance with modern sonic awareness.
For its 20th anniversary, the Jazz Orchestra Vorarlberg, together with Martin Eberle and Benny Omerzell, presents a program that lives up to its name: 'Sonus Variegate' represents musical diversity, radiant contrasts, and bold ruptures. Between electronic beats, indie rock energy, and orchestral artistry, a colorful soundscape unfolds, fueled by joy of playing and experimental spirit.
French trombonist Robinson Khoury, together with Anissa Nehari and Léo Jassef in 'MŸA', creates a fascinating fusion of jazz, electronics, and world music, while Jelena Popržan takes the audience into her own musical world in her solo program with viola, voice, looper, and subtle humor. Between folk, world music, Viennese song, cabaret, and jazz, a musical revue emerges that moves, surprises, and reaches deep under the skin.
Atmospheric Sound Spaces
As in previous years, the festival venues contribute to the overall experience. The Kunsthaus Nexus forms the heart of the festival, while the City Parish Church of Saalfelden with its unique acoustics and the Mining- & Gothic- Museum Leogang with its historic atmosphere provide an unmistakable backdrop for the concerts. In the AsitzBräu, located in the heart of the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, a free concert against the impressive backdrop of the Leoganger Steinberge mountain range promises first-class entertainment.
During these three days, Saalfelden Leogang becomes a vibrant resonance space for musical encounters, once again demonstrating that jazz and improvised music dissolve boundaries, concentrate creative energy, and open new horizons.
