First Names 2018

We are delighted to announce the opening act, a work by an Austrian musician commissioned annually by artistic director Mario Steidl of Verein Zentrum Zeitgenössische Musik (Center & Association for Contemporary Music).

Saxophonist Ulrich Drechsler will officially open the Jazzfestival Saalfelden on the Main Stage with a work entitled:

„Liminal Zone“

Clara Luzia – vocals
Özlem Bulut – coloratura soprano
Yasmin Hafedh - slam poetry/ recitative
Peter Zirbs – electronic
Simon Raab – piano
Judith Ferstl – double bass
Judith Schwarz - drums/percussion
Ulrich Drechsler – clarinet

We would also like to draw your attention to two additional acts: while saxophonist Shabaka will perform with the Austrian Shake Stew ensemble, Marc Ribot will stage the European premiere of his “Songs of Resistance.”
