Concerts on August 21, 2019
It all started at this beautiful square: Entitled "3 Days of Jazz", the first festival took place from19 to 21 May 1978. At that time, about a dozen young music-lovers were working hard to turn this agricultural estate into a festival site. Around 800 paying guests from all parts of the country enjoyed the concerts during the three days.
For the 40th anniversary, we are returning to this venue with Wolfgang Puschnig—a festival pioneer with the Vienna Art Orchestra—and the young Viennese Sketchbook Quartet.
Festival director Wolfgang Hartl, chairman of ZZM, is thrilled: “I still remember the ranch concerts in 1978. I am particularly pleased that we are returning to the place where it all began.”

The Sketchbook Quartet stands out for its refreshingly powerful, inimitable sound. Although rooted in the jazz tradition, the quartet does not shy away from incorporating various other styles into their compositions. Chamber jazz meets prog-rock—young, fresh, and surprisingly witty.
