TONspur concert V - Barockensemble der Wiener Symphoniker & Solisten

"Music says the unspeakable."   (Friedrich Smetana)

The baroque ensemble of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1989 to present a series of concerts of sophisticated baroque music in the baroque church of Maria Bildstein as part of the Bregenz Festival. Over the years, these became one of the most popular concerts of the Festival. Following the success of these, the ensemble was invited to provide music for the celebratory service "100 Years of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra" in Bregenz and subsequently made guest appearances at renowned concert series and festivals.

Since February 2004, the baroque ensemble has been performing annually in the baroque pilgrimage church "Maria in der Tanne" in Triberg in the Black Forest. It was there that the ensemble recorded their first CD. In the years 2005 – 2019 they made fifteen more very successful CDs.

The ensemble's highlight so far has been their concert in May 2016 at the "Centre of performing arts" in Beijing as the final concert of the "Beijing May Festival 2016".

In December 2024, the ensemble will give several concerts in Spain.
