The Bad Plus, Chris Potter & Craig Taborn
USA
Chris Potter - saxophone
Craig Taborn - piano
Reid Anderson - bass
Dave King - drums
Just because you take a bow does not mean you have to bend over: Bassist Reid Anderson and drummer Dave King, who co-founded The Bad Plus some twenty-one years ago, celebrate the music of Keith Jarrett, especially his "American Quartet," together with Chris Potter, "a saxophonist with inquisitive temperament and superhuman technique" (New York Times), and the "ethereal genius" (NYT) Craig Taborn on piano. Before and parallel to his recordings for ECM in Europe, Keith Jarrett recorded albums with Charlie Haden, Paul Motian, and Dewey Redman in the late 1960s and early 1970s that are "more than an inspiration—rather fundamental" for our protagonists. They see this evening as "a continuation of the spirit of the American Quartet in terms of musical dialogue and exploration."
