“Free the Jazz” is written in large letters inside the album “Breezy” by (Exit)Knarr, which probably gave this quintet its name. It is the latest formation of bassist Ingebrigt Håker Flaten, also known from The Thing and Atomic, which he dedicates to his late and loved colleague Jaimie Branch. As always, the Norwegian, who now lives in Austin, Texas, takes the path of greatest resistance and plays liberated and freeing music, which reaches above and beyond all jazz concepts in an equally stimulating way, with saxophonists Amalia Dahl and Karl Hjalmar Nyberg, Polish pianist Marta Warelis and drummer Jonathan Home.
