RUSH300 impresses once again in Saalfelden Leogang
One hundred ambitious cyclists took on the sporting challenge. Following its successful premiere last year, RUSH300 returned with a new date and another sold-out field of participants. With its second edition, the community event is increasingly establishing itself as a fixed highlight on the road cycling calendar.
The road cycling highlight in Salzburg
When the first rays of sunshine appeared over Lake Ritzensee in Saalfelden Leogang on Sunday, 5 July, one hundred ambitious cyclists embarked on a day they would remember for a long time. RUSH300 took its participants on two routes through SalzburgerLand, Tyrol and Bavaria: 300 kilometres on the main route and 160 kilometres on the RUSH300 Light course.
What unites both routes is more than just the distance: it is the spirit in which they are ridden.
The focus is not on fastest times or rankings, but on the shared experience. This is exactly what defines RUSH300 and sets it apart from traditional cycling marathons. All one hundred starting places had already sold out weeks before the event – a clear sign that the format has become firmly established in a very short time.
Behind the event is Hans-Peter Kreidl, founder of RUSHdieSERIE, who has been organising community events for road cycling and ski touring enthusiasts for many years. With its start and finish in Saalfelden Leogang, RUSH300 entered its second edition this year, following the great success of its premiere in September 2025.
“We believe it is important that we start together and finish together. Out on the route, strangers become friends – and this is exactly how a community grows that becomes bigger every year,” explains organiser Hans-Peter Kreidl, describing the philosophy behind the event.
The community experience
For the participants who completed 300 kilometres in a single day for the first time, RUSH300 provided ideal conditions: riding in a group and benefiting from the slipstream, fully equipped refreshment stations, a support vehicle and technical assistance from Bikepoint Maria Alm created an almost professional racing experience – without any pressure to perform.
The shared experience was also appreciated by well-known athletes such as Andreas Goldberger, Nadja Prieling, Mario Seidl, Simon Eder, Julian Eberhard and two-time RAAM winner Philipp Kaider, who joined RUSH300.
A route with character
The route initially followed Lake Zell and continued through the Oberpinzgau region to the first major climb over Pass Thurn. After the first refreshment station in Aurach, riders continued via Kufstein along the River Inn towards Lake Chiemsee, where a warm lunch awaited the participants. The route then continued around Lake Chiemsee and back towards Pinzgau via the Pillersee Valley. The final refreshment station was located in Waidring – by that point, around 250 kilometres had already been completed.
Back at Lake Ritzensee, the emotional highlight of the day awaited: the groups crossed the finish line together, where pasta, cold drinks and a shared exchange of experiences marked the perfect conclusion to an extraordinary day.
A diverse cycling region
With RUSH300, Saalfelden Leogang once again highlights its versatility as a year-round destination for cycling enthusiasts. Internationally renowned as a mountain bike hotspot in Austria’s largest bike region, Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, the region’s community ride also showcases its attractive road cycling opportunities, complementing its extensive range of cycling experiences.
Marco Pointner, Managing Director of Saalfelden Leogang Touristik and himself a participant in RUSH300, is equally enthusiastic:
“RUSH300 sends a strong signal about how passionately Austria’s largest bike region embraces cycling in all its forms – whether downhill, gravel, e-bike or road cycling. A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone whose commitment and dedication make an event like this possible.”
