One Weekend for the Bike Community:(Leo)Gang Days Celebrate 25 Years of Epic Bikepark Leogang

Challenges, Whip-Off Contest, Photo Giveaway and More

When Epic Bikepark Leogang opened its gates in 2001 as Austria’s first-ever bike park, mountain biking was still considered a niche sport, the MTB community consisted of a handful of “seemingly crazy” enthusiasts, and the idea of building a bike park sat somewhere between genius and madness. Twenty-five years later, the first two assumptions have long been proven wrong – and the third has turned out to be a true masterstroke. From 24–26 July, this milestone will be celebrated during the (Leo)Gang Days.

A Celebration by the Bike Community, for the Bike Community
What started as a pioneering vision in 2001 has grown into a cornerstone of the international mountain bike scene. Saalfelden Leogang not only gave birth to Austria’s first bike park but also helped shape one of Europe’s most vibrant mountain bike communities. UCI World Cup races and World Championships, slopestyle events on dirt in summer and snow in winter, worldwide recognition, generations of riders – and at the heart of it all, the people who love this sport. This anniversary belongs to them.

The (Leo)Gang Days deliberately avoid the format of a traditional event. Instead, they are an invitation to everyone who has been part of this story – whether since day one or only recently discovered the sport. Across three days it’s all about riding, good vibes, meeting like-minded people and celebrating mountain biking. Admission is free. From 24–26 July, 2026, the area surrounding the Asitzbahn valley station will become the meeting point of Austria’s mountain bike community.

From Friday to Sunday, a variety of challenges will keep visitors entertained throughout the day, with prizes waiting to be won alongside the glory. Families can enjoy a dedicated program at Riders Playground, where the Family Rally offers plenty of fun for young riders and parents alike, including instant prizes for all participants. The heart of the (Leo)Gang Days is the Base Station at the Asitzbahn valley station, featuring an Expo Area and Chillout Zone. While the Chillout Area fuels the community spirit with laid-back beats and cold drinks, the Expo Area provides the perfect opportunity to discover the latest MTB equipment from the bike park’s partners.

Night Whip-Off Contest
The highlight of the weekend takes place on Saturday evening. As the sun sets, things get loud. During the Night Whip-Off Contest, bikes will fly sideways through the floodlit night, delivering massive airtime, maximum crowd energy and unforgettable moments. The rider field consists of invited athletes and wildcard entries. Confirmed participants already include Lina Frener, Emma Iten, Jana Rämsi, Sarah Schieder, Christoph Handl, Maxi Oberhofer, Kilian Buhl, Bernd Winkler, Luca Hagger and Justus Imhorst, among others. Following an open practice session and Best Trick competition in the afternoon, the semi-finals will run from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM during golden hour. Once darkness falls, the final kicks off at 9:00 PM. The evening wraps-up with an after-party – swapping full-face helmets for cold drinks and celebrating the anniversary long into the night.

25th Anniversary Photo Contest
Because 25 years of Epic Bikepark Leogang would not have been possible without its community, Saalfelden Leogang has come up something truly special. Throughout the entire season, the Hangman II, Flying Gangster and Flow Link by Fox trails will be equipped with automated photo boxes, capturing riders while they charge, style and send it. Every shot can be downloaded free of charge afterwards.

But the best is yet to come: Every photo is simultaneously a ticket for the big anniversary raffle. At the end of the season, two massive prize packages – one for a male rider and one for a female rider – will be raffled off. Each package includes a Scott Gambler in an exclusive “25 Years Bikepark Leogang” custom design, a complete Fox riding kit, a GoPro package and plenty of goodies from the bike park’s partners.

Participation is simple: download your photo, post it on Instagram, tag @bikeparkleogang and use the hashtag #25epicyears. That’s it. Since riders can enter once per day, every additional day spent in the bike park increases the chances of winning. The more often you ride, the more often your name ends up in the draw.

“The beginning as Austria’s first bike park was certainly challenging. There were many sceptics and doubters, but there was also a group of 30 unusually quiet shareholders from the local community who believed in the project and worked together with the mountain cable car company to make it happen. In the early days, the trails were hardly capable of accommodating larger numbers of visitors. Year by year, however, more know-how was built up. Today, our team of 18 shapers, led by Head Shaper Adi Mayer and Bikepark Manager Berrie van de Kolk, ensures the outstanding maintenance of the park and drives its ongoing development with great passion and dedication. Spoiler alert: we are already planning three new trails for next year – but that’s all we can reveal for now. Let’s celebrate this anniversary together and look ahead with confidence to the next 25 years in Austria’s largest bike region, Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn.” — Kornel Grundner, Managing Director, Leoganger Bergbahnen
