The tourism region of Saalfelden Leogang has a long-standing tradition in Nordic sports – but on 15 February 2026, it will become more than just physical activity. The Nordic Park Experience transforms Lake Ritzensee into a meeting place for everyone who wants to consciously enjoy winter, nature and a sense of community.
Set against the impressive backdrop of the Steinernes Meer mountain plateau and the idyllic Lake Ritzensee, sporty activity, playful discovery and a relaxed lifestyle come together. While ambitious cross-country skiers glide along perfectly groomed trails – incidentally also a preferred training area for elite athletes such as biathlete Simon Eder – the Nordic Park becomes an experience space for the whole family.
The focus is on connection and the joy of movement: at the Kids Winter Games, children of all ages can try out a variety of fun activity stations. Those who master all challenges are rewarded with the coveted Snowflake Medal and small prizes. The Nordic Quiz Rally, which leads around Lake Ritzensee, combines knowledge and movement and calls for both brainpower and cross-country skiing skills.
There is also plenty to enjoy off the trails. Nordic-inspired specialties made with regional ingredients, prepared by Hotel Ritzenhof, a snow bar, marshmallows by the fire and laid-back DJ sounds create a relaxed atmosphere. The chill-out lounge invites guests to wind down together at the end of the winter day. Weather conditions permitting, ice skating on Lake Ritzensee is also possible.
Special attention is paid to responsibility towards nature and the region: from the very beginning, the Nordic Park Experience has been designed as a “Green Event Salzburg”. Waste reduction, short transport routes and regional products are integral parts of the event concept – fully in line with a sustainable Nordic lifestyle.
The Nordic Park Experience is a winter festival for all generations: sporty or leisurely, active or relaxed – and above all, a day that shows just how diverse Nordic lifestyle can be.
