New Herb House opens at the Mountain of Senses
A new Herb House has opened in the Senses Park at the Asitz, part of the Mountain of Senses in Leogang.
For the first time, the popular TEH Herb Workshop, which has been enjoyed by both visitors and locals for several years, now has a dedicated venue of its own.
The TEH Herb Workshop has long been an integral part of the summer programme at the Mountain of Senses. Together with TEH herb experts Sarah Deutinger and Maria Leutgeb, participants immerse themselves in the fascinating world of native Alpine herbs.
Traditional knowledge about herbs and medicinal plants is shared in an engaging and practical way, including useful tips for everyday use, herbal recipes to take home and small natural products that participants make themselves during the workshop.
The new Herb House now provides the perfect setting for this established programme. It invites visitors to discover herbs with all their senses, with smelling, touching, tasting and understanding at the heart of the experience. This makes the workshop even more hands-on and brings knowledge about the local world of herbs to life in a dedicated and authentic setting.
A special aspect of the project is the story behind its creation: employees of Leoganger Bergbahnen were actively involved in developing the idea for the new Herb House. The result is an experience that not only perfectly complements the nature-focused concept of the Mountain of Senses, but was also developed from within the company itself.
“A big thank you goes to our employees, who came up with the fantastic idea of transforming the old transformer tower into a Herb House with a kitchen and seating areas both indoors and outdoors. We would also like to thank all the companies involved in the construction as well as the W2 Manufaktur planning office, who have turned the old tower into a real little gem. We are delighted with this new facility and look forward to many interesting and inspiring herb workshops at the Mountain of Senses in Leogang,” says Kornel Grundner, Managing Director of Leoganger Bergbahnen.
The Herb House is accessible as part of the TEH Herb Workshops, which take place every Monday and Wednesday from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.
The meeting point is directly at the Herb House in the Senses Park. Registration is possible until 4:30 pm on the previous day at the Asitzbahn Information Centre by calling +43 6583 8219.
Participation costs €10.00 per person and includes, among other things, a self-made herbal ointment as well as a recipe and Alpine plant booklet.
