A taste of what’s to come: First “Shortcuts” highlights revealed

The complete program for this year’s Jazzfestival Saalfelden will be released on June 12 – but to shorten the wait until then, the festival team is already unveiling some exciting highlights from the “Shortcuts” series

Berlin-based percussionist Max Andrzejewski, together with the renowned Ensemble Resonanz from Hamburg, will present "SUMMEN" – a richly layered soundscape blending percussive improvisation with ethereal string energy, inspired by childhood drawings.

From Portugal and Italy, Pedro Melo Alves' trio brings the project "HIIT", which delves deep into the aesthetics of both improvised and composed music of the 20th and 21st centuries. The performance is a high-energy fusion of lyrical and structurally complex moments.

In the Otto-Gruberhalle, Salzburg-based formation Chez Fria will perform under the title "Die Kunst dem Fuge", reimagining baroque and classical compositions into club-ready soundscapes that blend Electronica, Funk, Jazz, and Hip-Hop. These five young musicians combine musical depth with playful experimentation – always with a wink and a smile.

Now in its 45th edition, the Jazzfestival Saalfelden, recently honored with the EJN Award for Adventurous Programming, continues to be a vibrant platform for contemporary, genre-crossing music. It remains a space for bold sounds, artistic openness, and unexpected encounters.

Stay tuned – June 12 is just around the corner, and that’s when the full festival program will be revealed!
