A Quarter Century of Airtime: Saalfelden Leogang Celebrates Its Epic Bikepark

From July 24–26, 2026, the Epic Bikepark Leogang celebrated its 25th anniversary with the (Leo)Gang Days. The sporting highlight of the anniversary weekend was the floodlit final of the Night Whip-Off Contest.

What began in 2001 as a pioneering project with just four lines has grown into one of the world's leading mountain bike destinations. To mark its 25th anniversary, the Epic Bikepark Leogang welcomed riders and visitors with community rides, a relaxed expo area, family activities and a high-calibre contest. With free admission throughout the weekend, the (Leo)Gang Days brought together bike enthusiasts, families, professional athletes and the entire riding community.

The celebrations kicked off on Friday by honouring the people who laid the foundation for the bikepark's success. "The past 25 years have been shaped by courage, innovation and vision. During a special evening at Stöcklalm, we had the opportunity to sincerely thank the pioneers who started it all back in 2001," said Kornel Grundner, Managing Director of Leoganger Bergbahnen.

 

Night Whip-Off Under the Floodlights

Saturday evening delivered one of the weekend's most emotional moments with the Night Whip-Off Contest. Following the semi-finals, the best riders battled for victory under the floodlights.

Germany's Noah Matuszewski claimed the men's title ahead of fellow German Lasse Benk, while Austria's Sebastian Demmel completed the podium.

In the women's competition, Austria's Lina Frener took the win. The Vorarlberg native had already celebrated victory at the UCI Junior Women's World Cup in Leogang just a few weeks earlier and once again showcased her outstanding form. Maria Strobl finished second, followed by Emma Bindhammer in third. The rider from Kirchbichl, Tyrol, has also joined the bikepark's ambassador team this summer.

The Best Trick Award went to Germany's Justus Imhorst, who impressed the crowd with a Double Backflip. In the women's category, American rider CJ Selig claimed the title with a Backflip.

 

Community Rides with Henri Kiefer

Alongside the contest, the focus remained firmly on the shared riding experience. UCI World Cup rider and Bikepark Ambassador Henri Kiefer led a community ride through the bikepark on Saturday before taking time to meet fans during an autograph session.

To round off the anniversary weekend, Henri also led Sunday's Community Train down the red "T-LINE by GoPro", with dozens of riders following behind to celebrate the bikepark's 25th anniversary together.

Away from the trails, there was plenty happening throughout all three days. The chill-out and expo area featuring partners and exhibitors became a popular meeting place for visitors and riders alike. Families explored the venue during the "Schnitzelshred" rally, daily challenges added even more action to the programme, and the community celebrated late into the night at the B3 afterparty following the Whip-Off Contest.

 

Anniversary Giveaway with Exclusive Prizes

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the Epic Bikepark Leogang is running a season-long giveaway until the end of the bike season on November 8. Visitors can participate by taking a photo at one of the photo booths located on the Hangman II, Flying Gangster or Flow Link by Fox trails, downloading the image free of charge, and sharing it on Instagram while tagging @bikeparkleogang and using the hashtag #25epicyears.

Participants have the chance to win one women's and one men's prize package, including a Scott Gambler in an exclusive "25 Years of Bikepark Leogang" custom design, a complete Fox riding outfit, a GoPro package for creating their own edits, and numerous prizes from the bikepark's partners.

 

From Austria's First Bikepark to a World-Class Destination

When Bikepark Leogang opened in 2001 with just four lines, it became Austria's first bikepark. Today, the Epic Bikepark Leogang features around 45 kilometres of lines and trails. Together with Saalbach Hinterglemm and Fieberbrunn, it forms Austria's largest bike region, offering more than 120 kilometres of lines and trails.

Around 270,000 bike uplift rides each year, several UCI Mountain Bike World Championships and 15 UCI World Cup events underline Leogang's status as one of the sport's premier destinations. The trail network caters to every level, from beginner-friendly flow trails to demanding World Cup tracks, including the "T-LINE by GoPro", "Hangman II", the singletrack "Back to the Roots", the jump line "Hot Shots fired by GoPro" and the legendary World Cup downhill course "Speedster".

The lines and trails at Epic Bikepark Leogang remain open until November 8. Looking ahead, the next major event on the calendar is the bike festival Saalfelden Leogang, taking place from October 2–4, 2026.
