3rd Saalfelden Leogang Tourism Day

Strengthening roots through knowledge - the third Tourism Day for all entrepreneurs in the Saalfelden Leogang region was held on 25.11.2019 at Congress Saalfelden.

The evening was opened by Hannes Riedlsperger, TVB Chairman Saalfelden and Christoph Schmuck, TVB Chairman Leogang, according to the motto “better, more conscious, more sustainable” instead of “higher, faster, further”. Managing Director of Saalfelden Leogang Touristik, Marco Pointner, reviewed the “Employer Branding” and “Future Lab” project.  It is becoming increasingly difficult to find qualified and committed staff in tourism. The Saalfelden Leogang region wants to counteract this and for this reason organized an “Employee Opening” for the first time in December 2018 - the starting signal for the “Your Future” training series, which was carried out with service expert Sabine Hübner. As finding and retaining employees is becoming increasingly important in tourism, the extensive “Employer Branding” project was launched. Together with the PLENOS agency, all businesses in the region are developing an employer branding strategy for the coming years. The “Future Lab” project was also launched at the same time - a platform to bring together the generations that will contribute to the region's development over the next 40 years. “An important first step into the future,” says Pointer.

Florian Weitzer, Managing Director and hotelier of the Weitzer Hotels family business, was then welcomed to the stage. The Weitzer family has been in the hotel business for more than 100 years. Since 2003, Florian Weitzer has been putting his personal stamp on the owner-managed hotels. He gave us an insight into the “Challenges and opportunities of family businesses”.

A presentation by Ali Mahlodji on “Generation Next - Leading new generations” rounded off the evening. He is the founder of WHATCHADO.COM, EU Youth Ambassador, trend researcher at the Zukunftsinstitut and author of the Work Report 2019. From a childhood idea, Ali Mahlodji founded the online video career guidance platform WHATCHADO.COM, on which people talk about their lives, careers and dreams and which now inspires millions of people. Today, Mahlodji is an expert on education and work. In his presentation, he showed why the generational issue in companies and society should not be left to chance and encouraged people to “think differently”.

After the exciting presentations, the participants were invited to enjoy regional delicacies and refreshments and were able to round off the successful Tourism Day with discussions with the speakers.
