3 Days of Jazz / Program & Interview
Six concerts will be held at the Kunsthaus Nexus Saalfelden, two concerts at the Mining and Gothic Museum Leogang and a free concert at the Stöcklalm on the Asitz.
The festival will be opened on Friday at Kunsthaus Nexus by the Norwegian-Austrian band Per "BASS VIKING" Mathisen's Saxophone Inferno, followed by the French musician Louis Sclavis and band with "Les Cadences Du Monde". Then the American formation "Scatter The Atoms That Remain" around bandleader and drummer Franklin Kiermyer will perform. On Saturday, singer and composer Andreas Schaerer will join forces with five other Swiss musicians for the formation "Hildegard lernt fliegen". Jordina Millà from Spain and the British artist Barry Guy will provide experimental sounds under the title "String Fables", and the Dutch band "Spinifex" will close the evening. The formation "You promised me poems" presents sounds mixed from jazz, folk, chamber music, world and improvisation in the unique ambience of the Mining and Gothic Museum in Leogang. Followed by the duo SIGMUN, formed by the Austrian Florian Sighartner and the Spanish artist Carles Muñoz Camarero, who perform at the museum with pulsating, euphoric, but also fragile music. The local band TJ & The Groove Boots invite you to a free concert on Saturday at the Stöcklalm on the Asitz.
The Swiss musician Andreas Schaerer not only performs at the 3 Days of Jazz Saalfelden Leogang, but is also artist in residence 2023 at the 43rd Saalfelden Jazzfestival in August. With his band "Hildegard lernt fliegen“ and their album „The Waves Are Rising, Dear!“ you can already witness his artistic talent in January. Schaerer is looking forward to it: "Being an artist in residence is a great privilege because it gives you the opportunity to dare a few things, to try things out and to try new things. I'm really looking forward to that."
