nordic skills day 2026
SATURDAY: IN SEARCH OF NEW BIATHLON TALENTS
December 19 is entirely dedicated to children and young talents: With free access to the Nordic Park premises, the season kicks off with a broad, family-friendly program centered around cross-country skiing and biathlon, including sports activities and challenges for the whole family. Under the motto “Austria’s next Lisa & Simon,” interested children aged 6-12 have the opportunity to get to know biathlon through free, guided training sessions, to try it out, or to improve their skills with tips and tricks from Austrian idols: The high-caliber coaching team featuring Lisa Hauser, Simon Eder, and Julian Eberhard boasts over 1,000 starts in the Biathlon World Cup. Simon Eder was among the fastest shooters in the biathlon circuit during his active time, while Eberhard was one of the fastest athletes on the course. Participation on Saturday, December 19 is free, but registration in advance for interested children is requested:

BIATHLON EXPERIENCE ON SUNDAY: LIMITED NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS
On Sunday, cross-country skiing enthusiasts and biathlon fans can look forward to the established Nordic Skills Biathlon Experience at the Nordic Park Saalfelden Leogang – a training day in small groups. Lisa Hauser and Simon Eder, who just recently ended their successful careers, along with Julian Eberhard, provide exciting insights into the sport of biathlon and share valuable practical know-how. Under the guidance of former ÖSV athletes, the individual elements of the sport will be taught on the course and at the shooting range with the original distance of 50 meters. The highlight of the day is a mini-relay race, where participants run for victory alongside the professionals. Interested individuals can secure a spot for EUR 132 per person, and the number of participants is limited; cross-country skiing skills in the skating technique are required for participation. Registration and more info about the program can be found at www.nordic-skills.at.
