Konzert: TOBIAS PÖTZELSBERGER & BAND
Away from the TV screen and back on stage: Tobias Pötzelsberger is back – more personal and versatile than ever.
On his new album A little closer, the Upper Austrian artist not only moves closer to himself musically. After three albums of finely crafted singer-songwriter songs, he wanted to find out what else he had in him – and consciously ventured into new and unfamiliar territory.
The result is eleven songs full of surprising facets: nostalgic soul in Through the Blue, earthy rock in Queen of the Night, modern folk in Lost in Translation, uptempo country in Let Me Be Easy, and a powerful string-backed ballad in Bad Dreams. Classic songwriter pop and hints of Sufjan Stevens also find their place.
The album explores themes of self-discovery, change and the challenges of a high-speed life caught between family, work and music. Not a diary, not a midlife crisis – but an honest examination of his own life.
Produced by Niklas Apfel, A little closer is arguably Tobias Pötzelsberger’s strongest and most personal album to date. He is now bringing the new songs to stages across Austria with a fantastic live band.
