Kompost 3: Short Cuts - Jazzfestival 2015
This event has already taken place.„Ballads For Melancholy Robots“
Austria
Martin Eberle - trumpet, slide-trumpet, flugelhorn
Benny Omerzell – rhodes, hammond, red instruments, piano
Manu Mayr - electric & double bass
Lukas König - drums, percussion, synthesizers
Titled Ballads for Melancholy Robots, Kompost 3’s most recent album consists of boldly layered collages that would sound martial to some.
Founded in the sweltering heat of a shared apartment in Vienna’s third district in 2009, this ensemble honestly tries to imbue avant-garde gestures with shock value. Even the ossified professorial bourgeoisie that has a tight grip on the Austrian avant-garde and all related awards has to take note of this refreshing sound. Instead of worrying about the effect of their music, Messrs. Eberle, Omerzell, Mayr, and König seem to be driven by a shared desire for absolute deviance.
