Kino-Spezial: FREERIDE FILMFESTIVAL 2026 – Zwisch
The Freeride Film Festival 2026 presents six films that explore the extremes of life in the mountains – from avalanches and sailing trips to quiet stories about friendship and where we come from. They all tell of the same moment: letting go of control in order to move with nature.
The six films approach this same experience in very different ways: the moment when you stop trying to control the mountains, the weather or life, and instead learn to move with them. Whether inside an avalanche, aboard a sailboat navigating the Norwegian fjords, or somewhere between myth and reality in a snowboarding career – this surrender is never a solitary experience, but is always carried by friendship and community.
Yin
(USA 2026; Director: Morgan Maassen; Cast: Daria Fuchs; Running time: 5 min; English)
Swiss professional snowboarder Daria Fuchs follows her deep connection to the frozen world – from snow-covered peaks to the coast of Japan. There, she swaps snow for waves in her quest to connect with the elements.
Inside Circles
(AT/DE 2026; Director: Dominic Knoppe; Cast: Dominic, Maximilian Pflanzl, Emil Bjartur; Running time: 20 min; English, German, Icelandic)
Dominic Knoppe travels through Iceland and Norway with Max Pflanzl and Tim Boehringer – on snowboard, splitboard and sailboat, always driven by the wind. A film about the freedom that comes when you stop trying to control nature and begin to move with it.
Uncle Timmy
(AT/DE 2026; Director: Timm Schröder & Marcus Westphal; Running time: 23 min; English)
In a vision of the future, professional snowboarder Timm Schröder – “Uncle Timmy” – tells the children of his best friend Dino Flatz about his life, from world championship titles and hard slams to real losses. Between truth and exaggeration, the boundaries begin to blur.
Kodo 呼動
(JP 2026; Director: Takuya Mukai; Running time: 7.5 min; English)
A group of Japanese skiers and filmmakers based in Canada combines traditional Taiko drumming and the philosophy of “Wabi-Sabi” with the majestic wilderness of Canada.
75 Seconds
(NOR/SWE/CH 2026; Director: Marco Tribelhorn; Running time: 12 min; English)
On a foggy March evening in Norway, freeskiier Jacob Wester triggers an avalanche. For 75 seconds, he fights for his life in the raging chaos of snow, while his wife Sofia waits below in the silence. A film about chaos, fear and hope.
Ferryland
(NOR 2026; Director: Emil Leenderts; Running time: 23 min; English/Norwegian)
Only 17 people live in the fjord village of Trandal – yet it is home to some of the best freeride spots in the country. Just before the end of the season, a group of friends returns, hoping to find perfect conditions one more time.
