The Jazz Festival Saalfelden is not only present on the city’s stages and concert venues – every year, the festival’s unique atmosphere also becomes visible in shop windows throughout the town. Once again this year, numerous businesses in Saalfelden took part in the traditional shop window competition, decorating their displays with creativity, dedication and great attention to detail.
From musical elements and imaginative decorations to surprising artistic ideas, participating businesses interpreted the festival theme in their own individual ways, giving their shop windows a distinctive jazz-inspired touch. At the same time, these lovingly designed displays add to the festival atmosphere throughout the town, making jazz an experience far beyond the concert stages.
The winners of the 2026 Shop Window Competition
On 18 August 2026, the jury – made up of representatives from the “Club der Freunde Jazzfestival Saalfelden” and Saalfelden City Marketing – came together to assess the entries. Following careful evaluation and deliberation, the most creative shop windows were selected.
1st place: MI.KA
With its creative overall concept, MI.KA secured first place. The shop windows were extensively hand-painted, cleverly incorporating this year’s Jazz Festival visual identity. Figures, instruments and characteristic elements of the festival design were combined with the fashion on display and carried across the entire shopfront. The jury was particularly impressed by the harmonious interplay of fashion, jazz and the individually designed artwork.
2nd place: Immolounge
An extraordinary eye-catcher earned Immolounge second place: a figure entirely covered in reflective sequins was staged alongside a trumpet, disco balls and other striking details. The window paintings also picked up on the jazz theme, bringing the individual elements together in a modern and visually striking overall concept. The originality of the idea and its consistent execution convinced the jury.
3rd place: Weinkistl Saalfelden
A great deal of craftsmanship and attention to detail characterised the design of Weinkistl Saalfelden’s shop window. The current Jazz Festival visual identity was integrated into the existing display and complemented by numerous handmade elements. Hand-sewn cushions, handcrafted instruments and small jazz-inspired details were incorporated among the products on display. The jury was particularly impressed by the many individually created elements and the elaborate execution, which secured Weinkistl third place.
“Once again this year, the participating businesses have impressively demonstrated just how creatively and diversely the Jazz Festival can be reflected throughout the town. The shop windows make the festival visible to everyone and play a significant role in creating and conveying its special atmosphere even before the festival begins,” says Robert Groger, Chairman of the “Club der Freunde Jazzfestival Saalfelden”. “For the jury, it was once again an exciting task to select the winners from among so many lovingly designed shop windows. We would like to thank all the businesses that took part with such dedication and enthusiasm.”
From 20 to 23 August 2026, Saalfelden will once again become a meeting place for the international jazz scene. The Jazz Festival Saalfelden is renowned for its exceptional musical programme, international artists, exciting newcomers and concerts at unique venues in and around Saalfelden Leogang.
