World Medical Football Championships
The world’s largest sporting event for doctors
In July 2017, participants in Saalfelden Leogang will swap their medical gowns for football kits as doctors from around the globe descend on the World Medical Football Championships to see who will be crowned the best medical soccer team. The event is expected to attract 1,000 participants from 24 countries and five continents.

In staging the football world championships for doctors, Saalfelden Leogang joins a glittering list of hosts including Barcelona, Los Angeles and Seoul.
Given that a doctors’ congress is also taking place at the same time as the world championships, the players – most of whom are travelling with their families – will be spending a whole week in the region. The World Medical Football Championships has always been held in big cities up to now, which makes it all the more exciting that the region of Saalfelden Leogang has been chosen to stage this major event. For the Austrian national doctors’ football team, the opportunity to host the world championships in their own country is a real highlight.
