AlteSchmiede Trail opening on 1 June

About a month after the season opener in Saalfelden Leogang, the newest singletrack in the trail network surrounding Epic Bikepark Leogang is ready to be ripped: the AlteSchmiede Trail is opening on 1 June. Not long after, the event season kicks into high gear, so there’s always some action happening at the Epic Bikepark Leogang.

Fresh and Ready: AlteSchmiede Trail Opening
On Saturday, 1 June, the AlteSchmiede Trail officially starts its first full bike season after the pre-opening in September. This new addition boosts the number of sustainably built singletracks in Saalfelden Leogang to six, totaling 13.5 kilometers with 1,600 meters of descent. The AlteSchmiede Trail itself is 3.35 kilometers long and packed with flowy turns, Northshore elements, and slightly techy sections for loads of singletrack fun. From its start above the Asitzbahn to its end at the forest road above the Asitzbahn mid-station, the trail flows through five different sections of natural forest and alpine meadow terrain. The photogenic trail also offers stunning views of the imposing Leoganger Steinberge across the valley. With a medium difficulty (red), the AlteSchmiede is perfect for advanced riders looking for variety and a new challenge with maximum stoke. If you’re craving something gnarlier afterward, you can hit the lower part of the Matzalm Trail via the forest road or take the Flying Gangster line in the bike park and then the Schwarzleo, Knappen, or Forsthof trails back to the valley.

Like all singletracks in Saalfelden Leogang, the AlteSchmiede Trail is handcrafted without any heavy machinery. “We completely adapt the built to the terrain, weaving through without cutting down a single tree. We build tables, step-ups, berms, or jumps wherever the terrain allows,” explains Head Shaper Reinhard Unterberger about the minimal-impact trail building philosophy in Saalfelden Leogang.

Events in June, July and August
After the super popular opening weekend with over 5,000 day tickets purchased in two days, Epic Bikepark Leogang keeps the stoke high from early June with a lineup of exciting events for the mountain bike community. It kicks off on 4 June with FOX hit the park, a community ride organized by bike park partner FOX Racing – joined by a professional photographer and led by some FOX Racing athletes.
The following weekend, the downhill and enduro pros will battle it out for World Cup points in their respective disciplines at the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series at Austria’s largest bike-region Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn from 7 to 9 June. This top-tier mountain bike spectacle features not only intense racing action but also loads of cool side events.
At the end of June, mountain bike guests in the region of Saalfelden Leogang can get professional riding photos during the Photo Days. On 29 and 30 June, photographers will be snapping shots at various trail sections, capturing all the riders shredding by. The photos will be available to view and purchase on the website the next day.
Trail maintenance is also on the agenda this year in Leogang. During the three Clean the Trail Days on 26 July, 23 August, and later in the year on 4 October, bike guests can join the local community and bike park partners to clean up the trails. Among the hardworking volunteers, a Gravity Card 2025 will be raffled off.

Online Bike Bonus, SAGLY, and Ticket App
The Online Bike Bonus, a dynamic pricing system offering early birds cheaper ticket prices, has been a big hit in Leogang since last year. Epic Bikepark Leogang is stepping it up with the SAGLY app. When you buy your ticket online, you get free access to this app specialized in mountain bike settings and maintenance. Soon, you can ditch the physical bike ticket entirely at Epic Bikepark Leogang. Starting this season, you can use your online ticket directly via the Ticket App, allowing you to pass through the turnstiles with your phone. The test phase is already underway.
